STRAWBERRY - ALMOND WAFFLES

 BATTER

1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp plus 1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1-1/4 cups milk, whole or 2%
6 tbsp melted butter (reserve 1 tbsp to brush on waffle iron)

Preheat the waffle iron.

Using a fork, cut the dry ingredients together thoroughly in a large bowl, 6 qt is ideal. Beat the eggs and milk together using your fork or a whisk and pour into the dry ingredients. Mix together with the fork until there are no large lumps, do not over mix. Cut in 5 tbsp of the butter last.

1 cup sliced almonds
10 to 12 large sliced strawberries

Toast the almonds on a cookie sheet for about 5 minutes, until golden brown.

Put about 1 tbsp of almonds across surface of waffle batter, after pouring it on the iron.

When waffles are done, top with additional almonds and strawberries.
